MICHAEL LIEBERMAN was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. A graduate of Yale College, he holds doctoral and medical degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a research pathologist interested in the molecular basis of disease, and he chairs the Department of Pathology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. More than thirty years have elapsed between the publication of his first poems in a high school literary magazine and the appearance of his mature work in national magazines and journals. In 1991 he was co-winner of the Houston Poetry Fest's Juried competition and Thorn Books bought out his chapbook Praising with My Body in 1992. A History of the Sweetness of the World is his first full-length collection. He is married to Susan Abel Lieberman. They have two grown sons.
