The concept of the 'Descent of Jesus' (Nuzul-e-Masi) is, in its detailed form, a combination of four inter-connected beliefs: the Ascension of Jesus, the Life of Jesus, the Descent of Jesus, and the Death of Jesus. These imply that when the Jews attempted to crucify Prophet Jesus (PBUH), Allah raised him alive towards the heavens. Near the Day of Judgment, he will descend to the earth, and after killing the Dajjal, he will pass away. Javed Ahmed Ghamidi affirms the ascension of Jesus (PBUH), but he consider the belief that he was taken up alive to be contrary to the Qur'an. As for the notion that he will descend in person, he views this matter open to interpretive inquiry. The reason for this lies in the difficulties that arise when the reports regarding the Descent of Jesus are examined in the light of the Qur'an and assessed through the principles of understanding hadith. Nonetheless, he accepts these narrations but interprets them in light of the report from Abdullan ibn Mas'ud. According to this, Jesus (PBUH) himself informed on the occassion of the Miraj (Ascension) of the Prophet (PBUH) that he would descend before the Day of Judgment and would kill the Dajjal.
