Allison Romens is a writer, illustrator, and speaker whose work centers on compassion, creativity, and supporting children and families. She has worked as an elementary teacher, children's librarian, and entrepreneur, and now creates books and resources that help children understand emotions, behavior, and inner experience.Her work is deeply informed by lived experience as a mother of five children, four adopted through foster care, all with complex special needs. Her family journey includes more than twenty foster placements and over a decade of navigating trauma, attachment, and healing, shaping both her storytelling and advocacy.Allison is active in foster and adoptive mental health communities, supporting trauma-informed care for caregivers. Her children's book series-including Sketchbook Brain, Dollhouse Brain, Baby Doll Brain, and Twirl Brain-translates emotional and neurological concepts into accessible, imaginative stories that build self-awareness and resilience.
