A Forty-Year Experiential Journal of Adventure, designed like a Documentary Film, written by award winning filmmaker, Warren Haack, including substantial color photography of the people, locations and experiences he encountered along the way.
Warren Haack, M.A. SFSU - 1971, is a California born filmmaker, and has been making documentary films since 1970. His work has taken him from his home in the SF Bay Area to rural America, Mexico, Cuba, Poland, Italy, Mongolia and Vietnam to make films on topics including current culture and music, traditional folk art, American Indian Culture, vintage railroads, mountain climbing and political dilemmas in contemporary society. His ground breaking anti-war film, "Selective Service System" is in the permanent collection of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. He was an IT in the School of Cinema at SFSU for 34 years, before retiring in 2017. As a musician his talents led him into the art of sound design, which he teaches at DeAnza College in Cupertino, having finished the third edition of a book on the subject, "Discover the Potential of Sound Design for Cinema".His current work in progress, "The Vanishing Steppe" is a feature doc shot on location in Mongolia, now in post-production.
