JON F. SENSBACH is a professor emeritus of history at the University of Florida and a specialist in early America and the Atlantic world. He is the author of several books, including Rebecca's Revival: Creating Black Christianity in the Atlantic World and A Separate Canaan: The Making of an Afro-Moravian World in North Carolina, 1763-1840, and is associate editor of A New History of the American South. He lives in Gainesville, Florida.
