KATRINA Z. S. SCHWARTZ is an interdisciplinary social scientist specializing in environmental politics and (post-)Soviet politics. Her first book, Nature and National Identity after Communism, was awarded the Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies 2006-7 Book Prize. She has published articles in Environmental Politics, Political Geography, and Environment and Planning A, as well as a coauthored paper in Science. Schwartz has taught at Penn State University and the University of Florida. She lives in Durham, North Carolina.
