Richard L. Kramer was born on 7-24-41 at the home of his parents, Arther (Art) and Cecilia (Ceal) Kramer. The family lived at 4350 East 21st Street in Indianapolis, IN. He was the 6th child of 7 children, all delivered by the family doctor, Doctor Conger. Born into a German Catholic family, he completed primary education at St. Francis de Sales Grade School and Secondary education at Scecina Memorial High School. While working at J.C. Penny & Co. on the Circle in Indianapolis, he completed four years at Marion College, graduating with a degree in Accounting and Business Administration. Following college, he served in the Peace Corps in Chile, S.A., for two years. The U.S. Army sent a congratulatory letter, and he spent two years at Fort Hood in Kieleen, Texas, as a "mental hygiene" specialist with the 47th Medical Battalion during the Viet Nam War. He was awarded the highest Medal of Honor for his work in a non-battle zone. Following the experiences in the Peace Corps and the Army, he was drawn away from being an accountant to become a helping person for people dealing with personal issues. He attended graduate school at IUPUI in Indianapolis earning a master's degree in Psychiatric Social Work. He is married and has two children with his wife Peg, a nurse. The children are Dane Edward and Casady Lynn. Over the years, the family has hosted eighteen exchange students from many different countries. He is who he is today because of the family in which he grew up and his church. He values family, respecting all people: a giving, outgoing person who has stood by his principles at great personal cost but with great personal satisfaction. He continues to work on other short stories regarding real life events that shaped and cemented his character.
