Julia Rosen is an award-winning journalist who writes about science and the environment. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, Scientific American, High Country News, and Los Angeles Times, where she worked as a climate reporter. Several of her stories have been anthologized in The Best American Science and Nature Writing series, and her work has been recognized by the American Society of Journalists and Authors, the Society of Environmental Journalists, and the National Association of Science Writers. This book was supported by a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and a Knight Science Journalism program fellowship. She has a bachelor's degree and PhD in geology, and spent six years studying ice cores to understand Earth's climate and why it changes. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband and two children.
