Blake, an unemployed man who died suddenly from overwork on a game boosting mission, suddenly finds himself transported back into the game he just finished. He's the dandy son of the Percival family, a minor villain destined for the incinerator early in the storyline. He's well aware of his own tragic end, and even more so, knows that Alice La Roche, a down-and-out woman being sold in the slave market, is the final boss in the game's later stages, slaughtering royalty and nobles. To avoid his fate, Blake seeks to distance himself from Alice, but his father, Creed, determined to enhance his family's "glory," insists on buying the former Duke of Laroche and assigning her to Blake's servant. From then on, Blake is forced to navigate the machinations of the nobility and the game's plot, hiding his strength and improving his magic and swordsmanship while guarding against this ticking time bomb. He also has to contend with a barbarian invasion and an elven crisis during the academy exams. In this difficult game of survival and revenge, he desperately rewrites his own destiny and the world's.
