After logging more than five years in the work force,
author Sean Hedgley was ready to do something
different. This twenty-three-year-old thought
traveling the world would introduce him to different "birds"
and different beers. And, he might get to see a bit of the
world as well.
In The Trip, he shares the story of how he and his four
friends from the United Kingdom traveled around the world
between 1988 and 1989. Hedgley introduces himself and his
friends, describing how they knew each other from school and
polytechnic before embarking on their yearlong adventure.
They all had one thing in common: they had a great desire
to see as much of the world as possible before they settled
down to careers and long-term relationships.
Divided into ten chapters, this memoir describes each country
the group visited including Hong Kong, China, Thailand,
Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Mexico,
and the mainland United States. The Trip details the main
places of interest they saw in each country, the people they
met on the journey, and the many adventures they got up to.
