"Al-Saqqa Mat" is the immortal novelist icon of the great writer Youssef Al-Sibai, which is considered one of the masterpieces of the Arabic novel in general. The events of the novel take place within a symbolic framework around the problem of death, as the novel's hero, teacher Shousha Al-Saqqa, tries to escape the memory of his wife's departure along the paths of life, until he meets a person who is completely opposite to him, and saves him from being beaten in a restaurant. Their relationship becomes stronger and they invite him to stay in his house with his mother-in-law and his son Sayyid. Teacher Shousha's life quickly changes when he learns of this person's profession, and he leaves the profession of bartending in order to work with him.
