Young Madison's family is poor and miserable. She looks at the church across the street and decides to write a note to God. Just before Madison entered the church, she crumples up the note, throws it away and leaves.

Allen, a struggling poet, sees this, takes the note from the garbage can, then decides to change his life for the better by helping Madison. They go on a journey that relates to anyone struggling to find a path to their dreams.
